Why care homes are different
Drainage that simply can’t fail
A blocked toilet in a family home is a nuisance. In a care home it can mean closed rooms, distressed residents and an infection risk.
Residents come first
Backed-up drains and smells affect people’s dignity and comfort. Problems need fixing quickly and quietly.
What gets flushed
Wipes, pads, gloves and aprons are the biggest cause of blockages in care settings.
A busy kitchen
Three meals a day for everyone in the home means fat, oil and grease heading for the drains.
Rural systems
Many homes are off mains drainage, with a pump station, treatment plant or septic tank that needs regular care.

Questions answered
Questions from care home managers
Why do care home drains block so often?
Mostly because of what gets flushed. Wet wipes, incontinence pads, gloves and aprons don’t break down and quickly block drains and pump stations. Bins in every bathroom, clear signs and staff training make a big difference.
Can you work without disturbing residents?
Yes. We agree visit times with your manager, avoid meal times and busy periods, use agreed routes, and keep the tanker away from residents’ windows where we can.
What happens if sewage backs up out of hours?
Call our 24/7 line on 03333 233577. We can send a tanker and an engineer to clear the blockage or deal with a failed pump.
Do you service pump stations and treatment plants at care homes?
Yes. Many care homes in rural areas have their own pump station or treatment plant. We service, repair and empty them, and can set up a planned maintenance schedule.
Can you provide a written report for our records?
Yes. You get a written report after every planned visit, and a waste transfer note for every load we remove.
Can you supply RAMS and insurance documents?
Yes. We can supply risk assessments and method statements (RAMS), insurance certificates and training records on request.
Do you empty kitchen grease separators?
Yes. We empty grease separators on a regular schedule, which helps prevent kitchen drain blockages and protects pump stations and treatment plants.
Can you invoice each home separately?
Yes. If you run several homes, we can invoice by site and quote your purchase order numbers.
