Drainage & Pump Station Services in Fareham

Drainage for one of south Hampshire’s fastest-growing areas: pump stations on new estates, interceptors on business parks, blocked drains in town and septic tanks in the countryside.

Fareham is an old market town at the head of Fareham Creek, surrounded by suburbs that have grown up since the war and some of the biggest new housing developments in south Hampshire, including the new community at Welborne north of the town. That much new building means a lot of new drainage, much of it private.

On a typical week in the Fareham area we might be servicing a pump station that serves a few hundred new homes, emptying an interceptor at Segensworth, jetting a root-filled drain under a 1930s semi and emptying a septic tank at a farmhouse near Wickham. The borough really does have a bit of everything.

Our engineers and tanker drivers are working in south Hampshire most days, and if something fails out of hours there’s always someone on the end of the phone.

What we do for Fareham customers

01
A submersible pump being lifted out of a pump station

Pump stations on new and established estates

A pump station serving a large estate works hard, and a failure affects every home on it. We put stations on a planned maintenance schedule, check every pump, float and alarm, clean out the rag and fat that builds up in the wet well, and send the management company a report after each visit.

Drain clearance and CCTV surveys

In the older parts of Fareham, Portchester Road and the streets around the town centre, roots and cracked clay are the usual suspects. We jet the blockage out, put a camera down the pipe, and tell you plainly whether it needs a repair or just regular attention.

Interceptors and gullies on business parks

Segensworth, Whiteley and the smaller estates around Fareham are full of yards, depots and car parks. Their interceptors stop oil and fuel getting into the creek and the harbour, so they need emptying and inspecting on a schedule, with the paperwork kept.

Septic tanks on the edge of the borough

Out past Titchfield, Wickham and Funtley, a number of farmhouses and cottages still have a septic tank or cesspit. We empty them, keep an eye on their condition, and look after treatment plants where they’ve been fitted.

Clearmasters have emptied our Septic Tank for many years. It is not an easy placed tank to get to but the chaps manage perfectly. I find them very efficient, friendly and polite. Thank you Valerie Wise

How it works

What happens when you book

The same simple process for every job.

  1. Step 1

    Tell us what you’ve got

Call us or book online and tell us what you need. Management companies: tell us how many sites you look after and we’ll suggest a plan.

  2. Step 2

We come out and do the job

We send the right vehicle for the job. It helps if:

    • the pump station kiosk or chamber cover isn’t blocked by parked cars
    • someone can let us into any locked compound or plant room
    • you tell us who manages the site, so reports go to the right person
  3. Step 3

    Paperwork and the next visit

You get a waste transfer note for anything we take away, and a written report after a survey or service. If it’s a regular job, we’ll remind you when the next one is due.

Questions answered

Fareham drainage FAQs

What residents, managing agents and businesses around Fareham ask us most.

Will the drains on my new Fareham estate ever be adopted?

Many are, eventually, once the developer has met the water company’s standards. Until then, the management company is responsible. Ask your managing agent where things stand on your estate.

What does a planned pump station maintenance visit cover?

We test each pump and the floats and alarm, check the control panel, measure how the pumps are performing, and clean out fat and rags from the wet well. Anything that needs attention goes in the report.

How often should a business park interceptor be inspected?

Typically every six months, with emptying when the oil or silt reaches the level set by the manufacturer. We can inspect it and set up a schedule for you.

Do you still empty septic tanks around Titchfield and Wickham?

Yes. There are still homes off the mains on the edges of the borough, and we empty and look after their tanks, cesspits and treatment plants.

My new-build drain blocked in the first year. Is that normal?

Not really. It can mean building debris was left in the pipe, or a section was damaged or laid at the wrong fall. A CCTV survey will show what’s going on, and the report can support a claim.

What if an alarm goes off at 2am?

Call 03333 233566. We answer 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, and can send a tanker to empty the chamber while the fault is found.
