Drainage & Tank Emptying Services in Worthing

Grease traps, drain clearance and CCTV surveys, pump stations, interceptors and tank emptying for homes and businesses across Worthing and the villages nearby.

Worthing is a large town, and most of it is on mains drainage, so the bulk of our work here is commercial and drain-related. Restaurants, takeaways, pubs and care home kitchens need their grease traps emptied; industrial estates and car parks need their interceptors and gullies cleaned; and blocked drains at shops, offices and blocks of flats need clearing fast.

Across the residential areas, from Goring and Durrington to Broadwater and East Worthing, we clear blocked drains, survey problem ones with a camera and service the pump stations that newer developments depend on.

Head north onto the downs, around Findon, Patching and Clapham, and some homes and farms are off the mains, on septic tanks, cesspits or treatment plants. We empty and service those too. Everything is covered from our yard in Copthorne, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

What we do for Worthing customers

01
A Clearmasters tanker at a commercial site

Grease traps for restaurants, takeaways and care homes

Fat, oil and grease from commercial kitchens sets hard in drains and is one of the most common causes of blockages. We empty grease traps on a schedule that fits how busy your kitchen is, early or late if you’d rather we weren’t there during service, and leave a waste transfer note every time.

02
Clearmasters drainage vans on site

Blocked drains, jetting and CCTV surveys

We clear blocked drains with high-pressure jetting, and if a blockage keeps coming back we’ll survey the drain with a camera to find out why. Written CCTV reports are useful for landlords, managing agents, insurers and anyone buying a property.

Pump stations on developments and commercial sites

Many newer developments and commercial units rely on a pump station. When a pump wears out, a float sticks or the chamber fills with rags and fat, the alarm goes off. We service pump stations, test the pumps, floats and alarms, clean out the wet well, and come out 24/7 when one fails.

Interceptors and gullies on industrial estates

Industrial estates, car parks and trade premises often drain through oil interceptors and gullies that need regular emptying. Our jet/vac tankers jet and vacuum in one visit, and we’re SafeContractor, Achilles UVDB and RISQS approved for managed sites.

Local knowledge

Drainage around Worthing: what to know

A few things we see a lot in and around the town.

Fat is the big one

Most blockages in commercial drains are caused by fat, oil and grease. A properly sized, regularly emptied grease trap stops it reaching the drains.

Who owns the drain?

Drains that only serve your property are usually yours. Since 2011, shared drains and the section outside your boundary are usually the water company’s.

Chalk on the downs

North of the town, the downs are chalk that holds drinking water. Close to the most sensitive sources, off-mains systems discharging to the ground can need a permit.

How it works

What happens when you book

The same simple process whether it’s a regular collection, a blocked drain or a pump station service.

  1. Step 1

    Tell us what you’ve got

Ring us or book online and tell us what you need. For businesses, let us know the best times to attend, any site rules, and who we should ask for on arrival.

  2. Step 2

We come out and do the job

We arrive with the right vehicle for the job, from a service van to a jet/vac tanker. It helps if:

    • there’s space to park a tanker close to the tank, trap or manhole
    • covers and pump station hatches are clear and easy to find
    • we know about any site induction, permit or access code in advance
  3. Step 3

    Paperwork and the next visit

You get a waste transfer note for anything we take away, and a written report after a survey or service. If it’s a regular job, we’ll remind you when the next one is due.

Questions answered

Worthing drainage FAQs

The questions we’re asked most often by homeowners, landlords and businesses in and around Worthing.

How often should a grease trap be emptied?

It depends on its size and how busy your kitchen is. Busy takeaways and restaurants may need emptying every few weeks; quieter kitchens every few months. We’ll suggest a schedule and stick to it.

Do I need records of grease trap emptying?

Yes. You have a duty of care to show your waste was disposed of properly. We leave a waste transfer note every time, and environmental health officers may ask to see them.

Who is responsible for a blocked drain?

You’re usually responsible for drains that serve only your property and are within its boundary. Since October 2011, shared drains and the parts outside your boundary are usually the water company’s responsibility.

My pump station alarm is going off. What should I do?

Cut back on water straight away, and don’t open the control panel or the chamber. Call us on 03333 233566, day or night, and we can empty the chamber to stop it overflowing while we find the fault.

Do you empty septic tanks near Worthing?

Yes. Some homes and farms on the downs, around Findon, Patching and Clapham, are off the mains. We empty septic tanks and cesspits and service treatment plants.

Can you work outside business hours?

Yes. Emergencies are covered 24/7, and planned work at restaurants, shops and offices can be done early in the morning, in the evening or at weekends.
