Drainage & Septic Tank Services in Fleet

Blocked drains, pump stations, septic tanks and treatment plants looked after in Fleet, Church Crookham and the villages of Hart.

Fleet is a big, leafy town with a lot of houses on large plots and a lot of mature trees. The town is on mains drainage, but roots, old pipes and shared drains keep us busy here, along with pump stations on the newer estates around Church Crookham and Elvetham Heath.

Go a mile or two out of town and it’s a different story. Villages such as Crondall, Dogmersfield, Winchfield, Long Sutton and parts of Odiham have homes and farms on septic tanks, cesspits and treatment plants. The ground here is often heavy clay, which drains slowly, so drainage fields can struggle in a wet winter.

Whether it’s a blocked drain in town or a treatment plant in the countryside, one team handles it. Our crews are in Hampshire most days and we answer the phone 24 hours a day.

What we do for Fleet customers

01
Clearmasters drainage vans on site

Blocked drains and root damage

Fleet’s tree-lined roads are lovely, but roots are one of the most common causes of blocked and broken drains here. We clear blockages with high-pressure jetting, cut out roots, and survey the drain with a camera so you know whether it needs a repair.

Pump stations on newer estates

Many newer developments around Fleet rely on a pump station that the residents’ management company is responsible for. We service them on a regular schedule, test the pumps, floats and alarms, and respond 24/7 if one fails.

Septic tanks and cesspits in the Hart villages

In the villages around Fleet, we empty septic tanks and cesspits for homes and farms with tankers from 2,000 to 4,000 gallons. On heavy clay, a tank emptied regularly keeps solids out of the drainage field and helps it last.

Treatment plant servicing

If you have a treatment plant, it needs servicing at least once a year to keep it treating the water properly. Our engineers service the common makes, carry the most common parts and leave a written report.

Local knowledge

Drainage around Fleet: what to know

Trees, clay and a mix of mains and private drainage.

Mature trees

Roots love the moisture in drains. If your drain blocks every year, there’s a good chance roots are getting in through a joint or crack.

Heavy clay outside town

Much of the countryside around Fleet is on clay that drains slowly. Drainage fields can flood in winter, especially if solids have been allowed to reach them.

Know your pump station

If you live on a newer estate, check whether your sewage goes to a private pump station and who maintains it. It’s usually in your management pack.

How it works

What happens when you book

The same simple process for every kind of job.

  1. Step 1

    Tell us what you’ve got

Call us or book online and tell us what’s happening. If you’re not sure what kind of system you have, describe what you can see and we’ll help.

  2. Step 2

We come out and do the job

We send a jetting van, a tanker or a service engineer, depending on the job. It helps if:

    • there’s room to park a tanker close to the tank, trap or manhole
    • lids, covers and hatches are clear and easy to find
    • you tell us about narrow access, gates or site rules before we arrive
  3. Step 3

    Paperwork and the next visit

You get a waste transfer note for anything we take away, and a written report after a survey or service. If it’s a regular job, we’ll remind you when the next one is due.

Questions answered

Fleet drainage and septic tank FAQs

The questions people in Fleet and the surrounding villages ask us most.

Why does my drain keep blocking?

In Fleet, tree roots are one of the most common reasons. Roots get in through joints and cracks and catch everything that flows past. Jetting clears them for a while, but a CCTV survey will show whether a repair would stop it happening again.

Can you cut out roots without digging?

Often, yes. We can cut roots out of the pipe with specialist jetting heads. Whether the drain then needs relining or repair depends on the damage, which a camera survey will show.

My house is on a new estate. Who looks after the pump station?

Check your management pack or service charge statement. Some pump stations are adopted by the water company, but many on newer estates are the management company’s responsibility.

Does clay soil affect septic tanks?

It affects the drainage field more than the tank. Clay doesn’t let water soak away quickly, so the field can become waterlogged. Regular emptying keeps solids out of it and helps it last longer.

How often should a treatment plant be serviced?

At least once a year. Most also need the sludge emptying about once a year; we can do both on one visit.

Can you come out at weekends?

Yes. We answer the phone 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Call 03333 233566 and we’ll tell you when we can get to you.
